Vortex PhD™ In-Line Vortex Flow Meter
|
|
|
|
| |
| EMCO's model Vortex PhD® is an in-line
vortex shedding flow meter capable of measuring liquids or gases, including
steam, for pipe sizes from 1" to 12", available in stainless steel and
carbon steel. The PhD flow meter has no moving parts, rugged construction,
and microprocessor-based electronics for high accuracy in many flow metering
applications. The Vortex PhD flow meter, with no moving parts, provides
accurate measurement with lower maintenance, and lower total cost of ownership
than other flow meter technologies.

Installation
|
Installation Specifications
|
|
Mounting
|
Install flow meter vertically, horizontally, or at any angle. For liquid
service, the flow line must be full during flow meter operation; in vertical
lines, flow direction should be upward for optimum flow meter performance.

| Pressure and temperature taps
|
Mount pressure tap 3.5 to 7 pipe diameters downstream of the flow
meter. Mount temperature tap an additional 3.5 to 7 pipe diameters downstream
of the pressure tap.
|
| Site selection
|
Select installation location to minimize turbulence and swirl. The
piping configuration, i.e., valves, elbows, pumps, may add disturbances to the
flow.
|
| Serviceability
|
The sensor element can be removed, and replaced, without removing
the flow meter body from the process line and without process shutdown for
process pressures below 750 psig (52 barg).

PhD-90-S-60-F-300-LOC-TOT-RMT-T represents a 6" in-line vortex flow meter with
stainless steel wetted parts, for steam or gas applications, with ANSI class
300 flanged connection, a local indicator and totalizer, with remote-mounted
transmitter, and teflon sensor wires.
Notes:
-
Wafer-style
meters
available in stainless steel (sizes 1 to
4" only).
-
Has 4 to 20 mA and/or 50% duty cycle
frequency output. A 50% duty cycle frequency can be scaled.
-
FM and CENELEC approved meters come
with a magnet wand. For all other meters the wand can be
ordered as an option.
-
At least one local indicator is recommended
at each site. If one display will be used on many meters,
display boards should be purchased separately.
-
Remote-mount electronics are
required for high process temperatures (refer to the general
specification). The standard remote-mount option comes with 30' of cable.
-
Not available with European CE Mark
or FM, CSA and CENELEC approvals.
